In this fifth of my eight-part certification guide, I will give you the run-down of what to consider before you choose between an Online or Onsite Exam. And I will share the link where you need to go to finally register for the exam. Trailhead is hiding this link a bit too well (probably not on purpose).
Know Your Test-Taker Style
The certification exam can be taken either Online from a location you choose or Onsite from a Kryterion-sponsored Testing Center.
It’s important to understand the main differences so you can decide which test-taking style you feel more comfortable with. Here are the key differences:
Take the Salesforce Exam – ONLINE:
- Take the exam remotely from your own personal or work computer
- Proctored through a webcam
- Requires external webcam
- Requires installation of Sentinel Secure software
- No scratch paper allowed during exam
Read the official instructions carefully so your computer and exam location are prepared correctly:
Take the Salesforce Exam – ONSITE:
- Take exam from a Kryterion-sponsored Testing Center. There are many to choose from worldwide, so you can schedule your exam with a testing center that is closest to you
- Proctored through cameras set up in testing room
- Everything is ready for you, no need to worry about technical setup and installations
- You are provided with scratch paper
There are a few items to bring to the testing center for check-in purposes, so read the instructions carefully to be prepared:

Don’t Freak Out!
The date is set and now it’s countdown time. BUT don’t stress out. If you have prepared yourself well with the steps I have described earlier, you are good to go.
In the next article, we will take a look at the steps you can take to calm your mind and increase your confidence towards your exam day.
